About SwitchDate
Why a site about leaving a dating app exists at all.
Why this site exists
Almost everyone who uses a dating app reaches the same point: it worked, and then it stopped, and there is no obvious reason why. Every write-up online answers a different question. Each one ranks apps, they review apps, and none of them explain what to do when the app you are already on has stopped working for you.
SwitchDate answers that one. Each page starts from the app you are leaving, works out why people leave it, and describes what actually changes if you move.
Who runs it
It is written and maintained by Ivy Merrick, who installs and works through every app described here before writing about it. How that research is done, and what it cannot tell you, is set out in full on the method page.
Three commitments
- Say what an app is not good at. Every app page carries a section on who should skip it. A comparison that finds nothing wrong with anything is not a comparison.
- Never rank by who pays. There is no sponsored placement here and no app can buy a better position or a kinder sentence. This is set out in the affiliate disclosure.
- Admit the limits of the whole exercise. No comparison can tell you whether you will meet anyone, because the decisive factor is how many active people are near you, which nobody outside a platform can see. Any site claiming otherwise is guessing.
How the site is paid for
Advertising, which may appear on this site, and in future affiliate links, which are disclosed where they appear and do not influence what is written. At present no affiliate links are present.
Corrections
Dating apps change constantly, so anything here can go stale. If something is wrong, email [email protected] and it will be corrected with a note on the page.
